John Cook
John Cook, born in Halifax in 1918, began painting overseas during WWII. He later studied in England, N.S College of Art, and then Belgium. He did realistic landscapes (often on site) with many images of the old parts of Halifax. He had numerous shows with Nova Scotia Society of Arts, Maritime Art Association, and the Winnipeg Art Association. His works are collectable with a couple of noted patrons being Dept. of Northern Affairs, and Nova Scotia Museum and numerous prestigious private collections. Many of the fine artists of Nova Scotia painted with him and he was an ardent teacher. He died in 1984.
